What’s the story with the talks for a Monday to Friday. Union rep and manager both saying they’re talking about it?

I don't think your union rep and your manager have the authority to override our existing obligations as a universal service provider.
How much of their time is taken up with these discussions?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If it ever happened we would get Sunday and Tuesday as the two days off. It would save RM a hell of a lot in staff costs but the current idea they have regarding the large parcels will potentially cut thousands of jobs. I think they like the latter idea more and wouldn't want to give up a working day.

Whenever this mon-fri thing comes up someone says it's be Sunday/ Monday or Tuesday off not Saturday! Why would it ? All those businesses that close Saturdays including the onees in major city's would be delighted with that wouldn't they? Are royal mail going to tell all businesses that they need to work the same days as us so they can get mail everyday they are working?

Doesn't matter anyway because no day will be getting dropped, Sunday working will be the norm within 10 years ,not for mail but for parcels because that will generate business. If the other couriers don't follow, royal mail's market share for Sunday parcel deliveries will be huge and they will be able to charge a premium for it.

Of Com have announced that they are bring forward the review of the USO obligations from 2022 to 2020. This review will look at the efficiency within Royal Mail.

There can be no reduction in the USO or any talks on reducing the 6 day service until after Of cons review in 2020.
