Fascinating to learn that Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History month is approaching. Good to see our union focusing on the things that really matter to its members.

We've got one gay and one lesbian working at our office. I don't think either of them bother with this sort of thing. They just get on with their lives, cause no trouble to anyone. I'll bet most leasbians and gays can't be bothered with initiatives like this.

Exactly right! Pity is when these things come up at Conference EVERY branch votes in support of pushing these policies because tey are too afraid of being attacked for being non PC.

Sadly the point that most miss is that whether you are straight, gay, of ethnic background or disabled you want the union to protect your terms and conditions not play lip service to you!

Pity people 'think' they know what people want rather than finding out what they really need

Reminds me of that politician who - during a debate on whether schools should make equal mention of gay relationships in sex education literature - infamously said ...

I've nothing against gay people, or their lifestyle. It's when they try and ram it down my throat that I object

Ironically I think that 's the bit the right wing site picked up on and used in their "Dark Side " Article and tried to imply this site was homophobic . Postman went through everything and couldn't find anything offensive .Those altered images are just stereotypes which you'll get in every walk of life .

Correct! Unfortunately, unions have fallen into the same trap as politicians and employers who think window dressing "mission statements" and platitudes ('our people' being a particularly annoying example) is some kind of substitute for really looking after the interests of the membership. The world has moved on since I first started work and hardly anyone is concerned about the sexual preferences, race or religion of another worker these days. It was heading that way long before these trendy middle-class liberal types decided we all needed lecturing about it.

Agreed 100% IWW I`m sure most lesbians/gays wish the people that dream up these things would go away and let them get on with life. If anything it creates more problems than it solves.

I'm pretty shocked to see our beloved leaders are, well, not straight - although they do look fetching in those turquoise speedos.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
