Hopefully the one postie doing two duties will work to his time and leave the DOM to deliver the rest.hans solo wrote:i know where your coming from re getting extra long weekend with the tue

Today is my rostered day off and I have given the manager 2 options, pay me or give me a specific day off that I requested. They made no mention of this unagreed policy you mention.aiden01 wrote:Think you can request payment if not getting another day off in same week.. as he is giving you tuesday off im not sure if you can request payment.hans solo wrote:if your day off falls on the monday holiday our dom is insisting on taking the tuesday off as your day off

One grievance I was successful with was this subject, so I recommend going that route. The grievance will be against the policy rather than the manager, but they may not see it that way.

They have put down my day off as Monday....as I am a newbie, when I first saw this I was like WTF....
I have not been in to see management and obviously I won't see them until Tuesday....
One Postie said to me that I should automatically be paid an extra days work in my pay at the end of next week.... anyone know if this is true?

It may be a local thing only your office does.
But you are allowed to either ask for a day in lieu added to your leave entitlement, another day off that week, or overtime payment instead.
Friday was my day off and I have asked for a specific day off later in the year, or overtime payment - I am waiting for a decision.

I bumped this thread yesterday...
MRM picks : Bank and public holidays
MRM picks : Bank and public holidays
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The RM pay system won't allow anyone to be paid for a day they are not physically at work because it is a bank holiday. So you can either arrange another day off that is agreeable & available on the AL list or carry it over to the following year.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Nothing is guaranteed but as a rule of thumb the Tuesday following a bank holiday Monday will be like a standard Monday.Bahia Feliz wrote:I thought Tuesday would be like a Monday mail volume wise next week?
The Wednesday will be quiet somewhat like a usual Tuesday.
The remainder of the week will be busier than usual to catch up .
The duty hours for each day are not usually changed so you may overrun on the Tuesday with possible delays due to any WTLL and weekly van checks.
