Hi. I've been a Postman for 11 years with Royal mail. Recently I've trained a number of staff for new duties. The staff in question haven't just started for Royal Mail, but they are being trained on new duties. Should I be receiving a training allowance for this? I am not a coach for Royal Mail. However it does seem unfair training staff while there is 2 coaches employed, getting a weekly allowance of £35. Many days go by without the need for coaches input. It seems a very unbalanced way of rewarding staff. Some train and get paid, some train and don't get paid?

Your showing them the route as your doing you normal daily delivery. Your not showing them how to actually do the job. I wouldn't class that as 'training' in terms of what WPC are suppose to be paid for.

I would find out more. I think you might be entitled to a daily training allowance. Say you take someone out for 2 days per week then you get 2/5ths of the standard coaching allowance. It's at the back of my head somewhere and I will try and find it for you as I'm in bed with flu and f..k all else to do. :thumbup
