Want to do my job but don't want to work by my time as I've got kids and a Life outside of the RM.
Big deal as the duty I've signed for is taken of me and I'm bullied into another duty which is O.K. but I ain't gonna work by my time.
No union rep in my place and a lot off the other workers are fearfull off their duty/job.
Need advice as the Delivery Office where I work use to be hard line.
Is The Union DEAD.
We Stand United and just give to the charity of the CWU.

Firstly the union isn’t dead and you don’t need them to tell your dom you are working too your time.

If you have signed for a duty then refuse to come off it, take the stance that you are staying on it. What’s the worse they can do? Suspended you? For what? Nothing?

Just grow some for gods sake and stand up for yourself!!

Your manager can take you off your duty. It’s a business and they can ask you to do anything within reason in your hours and that isn’t an unreasonable request

Reserves are there to cover absence/sickness and A/L ...that's their function...their "reason for being" if you like ? Duty Holders are attached to a dedicated duty assigned by seniority. It is " reasonable" for a duty holder to be ASKED to move onto a different duty for the odd day or two over the course of a year ... but there is no requirement for he/she to do so !

It is not "unreasonable" to ask a Reserve or an OPG who has been holding AND COVERING a specific duty on a long term basis to move onto a different duty ?

Correct, I have known people who have been constantly moved, gone to the union and then they haven't moved anymore!
