plantar fasciitis

Post by ss689steviec »

Hi all, just joined and hope everyone is ok.
After advise please.
Last Friday i went to my local minor injuries because I have had pain in my foot for a while and it's getting worse. The doctor said I'm suffering with planter fasciitis and to take 14 days rest immediately to try and stop pain as my result in injections in foot. Told my stand in manager this and that I would give it a few days and see because I thought 24 days was a lot especially with the work load this time of year. My office manager returned from leave and straight away rang me at 7am yesterday morning and basically said only policemans heel and will you be in tomorrow, I said not tomorrow because still in pain and that doctor recommend 14 days but would see how I go. I then got a text from her at 5.15pm yesterdsy asking if i would be in the following morning, my reply was no as I had already told her and that I would not be rushed because could lead to me having more time in future off. Don't think she liked that because her reply was you need to ring before duty start Wednesday morning if not in. ell for a start she should be more sympathetic towards my pain and why can she text in the evenings but not allow me to do it in advance. I've told manager's 3 times now the doctors advise but said would see and try get back sooner, why does she keep pressuring me and which could result in much longer term injuries.
This is not the first time she has used pier pressure against employees.
Thanks everyone

If doctor advises rest for 2 weeks, could you not get a sick note off him. Speak to your rep if possible. I can sympathise as I suffered from this pain terribly. Buy some SofSole plantar insoles - worked wonders with my feet. Also helps to buy some decent shoes rather than the crap RM supply. Good luck.

get yourself a pair of these for your work shoes, they feel weird for the first couple of days but they do work and very quickly.

they will stretch the tendons in your feet and stop the pain.

lots of people on here have bought similar as a lot of us suffer with the same problem.

Self cert for a week go to GP to get at least another week off. You cannot repeat, CANNOT do a posties job with that injury. You are being sensible saying you don't want to come back too soon, then go off again. Fxxk your manager, to be blunt. They want you back for their welfare, NOT yours. Look after yourself, ask the GP what you should be doing physio wise to get better quickly. Don't cave to the bullying tactics of your manager. ATB.

Also, whether they're busy or short staffed , that has absolutely nothing to do with your injury. It's not gonna get miraculously better because it's coming up to Christmas. When it starts to feel better ask your GP to recommend you return on light duties, ask to go in early for example, to prep walks, then gradually do bits of delivery otherwise you'll be back to square one again. Explain to your GP that going back to work for you would entail being on your feet for 8+hrs and walking 8 miles or whatever you do. Some GPs don't grasp just how physical our job is. Don't do anything to help out your manager coz by sounds of it they certainly don't wanna help you.

What Rambo says is true except I didn’t take the time off and paid the price of it getting worse and having to get injections in my feet to ease the pain, but one thing the doc did say was our feet are not meant to take the wear and tear we do everyday

Received mine yesterday, used today and yes they feel a bit strange with the raised bit, can't report if they work yet although think my pain has dropped after one day but heres hoping they'll do the trick.

I have this condition.
Taking time off will not fix the problem.
My feet were so painful that I could barely walk. However after I started walking and the muscles stretched it got easier. I was on diclophenic and codiene most of the time.
I did not take a single day sick.
I worked my way through it. And used insoles. Pain killers and also acupuncture.i lost weight, got healthier and fitter and did not carry unnecessary weight and used a trolly and the problem went away.
It was not comfortable. But took 6 months to fix.

I'll try these. I've been plagued with foot pain for about 6 months now which varies in severity but never goes. It does feel like a tendon problem on the base of my foot (between heal and toe) so this sounds like the solution to my problem.

Thanks!
