Attendance Review
Hi all I have just returned to work after a three week absence due to stress and I was handed a letter today saying I was to attend an attendance review on Friday but as yet I've still not had my back to work. My question is can they ask me to attend this before a back to work and if not is there any point in challenging it? Thanks in advance.

Yes. The welcome back meeting or the lack of one is to establish if you have made a full recovery from your illness and if there is anyhing that the business can do to assist you.EdinPostie wrote:Hi all I have just returned to work after a three week absence due to stress and I was handed a letter today saying I was to attend an attendance review on Friday but as yet I've still not had my back to work. Irrespective of a welcome back meeting not taking place you have triggered the RM attendance standards and this with the appropriate notice you are required to attend a formal stage review.
You should have received in your notification letter a copy of your absence history that the interviewer will be refering to.
Ensure that you are accompanied to this meeting with a union official or a work colleague.
The meeting will give you the oportunity to put your case forward why the stage warning should not be issued and any relevant mitigating circumstaces.
A three week absence is classed as long term by RM and if you were asked to give your consent for the intervention of OH Assist and if so what was stated on their report.?

At the stage 1 review it is not mandatory for a stage 1 to be issued and is left to the discretion of the manager although it is highly likely that this will be issued in an effort for you to avoid a further stage review.EdinPostie wrote:Thanks. I would mention at the interview meeting that the attendance procedure also has informal meetings to avoid the formal approach and as your illness is for work related stress could this not have taken place to help you which your welcome back meeting had it taken place would have uncovered.

I've not had a decision from my stage 1 review yet and I feel like the manager is trying to put pressure on me to react if I go off sick until my grievance has been heard can they put me straight on a stage 2?

if you have a grievance in regarding this then the grievance should be heard before the AR2 interview happens.
Remember that you can only have a further 9 days or 1 absence before you trigger this.
No RTW being done in your first day back sights procedural errors as well as the stress from work being counted under the grievance
