Swapping duties (not by choice)

Post by Alfreton »

Someone’s been switched from working 4:30 - 12:06 to working 6:30 -14:06 without being informed. They turned up at 4:30 only to find out they was on a different walk

My manager seems to think they can do this. I said they can swap our walks but not our duty times

Any information anywhere for me to put under their nose?

They can change the hours but they have to give reasonable notice so that people can plan things.

Being told at 4:30 on the same day is not reasonable.

Swapping duties (not by choice)

If the manager wanted to change the start time for a duty ghe should have approached the rep (at the resourcing meeting) and explained why.
One assumes he had a legitimate reason for wanting to do this.
The rep should consult with anyone directly affected and either agree to the change or if there were legitimate concerns, register a disagreement.

If the decision to change the start times was agreed then as stated above reasonable notice should be given.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
