Out of the blue a Withheld number rang to book a telephone appointment with an occupational health advisor.
I was caught off guard because I was not expecting such a thing , haven't been off sick and RM as far as I knew did not have my mobile number.
I failed to ask specifics (yeah , I know) but they told me it was a referral by my manager.
I am not unwell
I haven't had any time off work
My attendance is good
I have no ongoing medical conditions nor anything notifiable to the DVLA.
At work I asked what it was about and the manager says that my driver declaration is different to the one 6 months ago and that I failed to disclose last time that I am colour blind.
When pressed, he said that he was covering himself as he was required to refer me , beyond that he had no more to say.
Down to specifics then -
As colour-blindness is not a notifiable condition to the DVLA , why would Royal Mail be at all interested ?
As I have never been off work for being colour blind then why would it be an OH issue ?
What might be the pros/cons of participating in the interview be ?
Thanks for your time.
(as an aside - my manager has not followed procedure as far as I understand it in that they did not discuss this with me prior to referral , they did not seek my consent for referral and have failed to explain subsequently the purpose of the referral)

This may be a first I've never heard of this before , your Dom needs your permission before any referral to OH. I would see union rep immediately about it.

If you are a driver covering airport operations then colour blindness would have to be disclosed and at one time would stop you for applying for an airport duty but beleive that the colour blindness test in relation to runway lights is less stringent now.BA wrote:Out of the blue a Withheld number rang to book a telephone appointment with an occupational health advisor.
