SWW options limited

Da 3 options for ensuring a 1hr reduction come October are terrible. Apparently each office was put in to a certain category. Regardless of disagreements put in by are rep Royal Mail are pushing ahead with 12minutes of the start time. Most of the full timers don't do any IPS and the runs are all over there times. What difference does it make when the hour is taken now especially if Royal Mail have the Pda actuals to see individual workloads. Heard cwu hierarchy agreed with RM headquarters to take it from start times regardless of individual office issues and that any office with a disagreement in is going to get the reduction put on hold is there any truth in this ?
What does this mean for any part time staff who are expecting a pay rise come October?
How can the union sink us like this?
Is there anything we can do before October as I feel the shite will hit the fan when others in the office find out?

If as you say it doesn't matter when you take the hour because RM have the data output from the PDAs, then why would anyone bother going to disagreement over it?
I can't see payroll paying some people one hourly rate and then knowing which offices were in disagreement and paying them a different hourly rate.

Trouble I am lead to believe that Royal Mail and CWU headquarters are due to release some documentation which basically backs up what you have said. Hopefully someone high up on this site can confirm this for you.

Got a copy of a joint agreement showing that its true the hour has to come of the start of the day regardless of office issues or set up.
What clowns could possibly agree this

Some area reps have taken the SWW to disagreement to get the time reduction taken off the end of duty time. They won't be successful though as RM want it taken from the start.

Why is it such a problem starting 12 minutes later every day? (genuine question) The cut-off procedure is there to be applied if needed.

That is the problem especially if you are a new start the cut off procedure is sadly lacking this issue needed tackling at the last dispute but was not!

The problem is that the corresponding twelve minutes of work for each batch of SWW isn't going to just disappear as a result. The cut off procedure is not fit for purpose and is implemented differently in every office or not at all. What we really need is an enforced policy from both the RM & the CWU of paying posties for all the hours they do without any quibble, bad feeling, or B&H.

Agreed. Expecting part time staff to do the same duty as full time staff but not paying them the same amount of hours is another big problem within RM that is yet to be solved.

Cutting-off is not a problem in my DO, and a colleague told me that 3 new duties had been created just to cover cut-offs. However I appreciate that there is no uniformity in how different offices run, so take your point. Perhaps as part of a new employees induction the office rep along with the manager should explain to them how to cut off. Once cutting off becomes widespread in an office it does n't seem to be such an issue, and unsurprisingly that has led to duties been readjusted to combat this. We have excellent reps at our office, think that helps by the sound of it.

All members are now being issued a handbook that should help them with various agreements and procedures, in my opinion, this should have been done years ago.
