Changing shift pattern as jobs become vacant

Post by postman_jack »

We had an indoor revision a while back, which triggered a resign. Majority of the FT jobs are 4 week wallingtons with the rest of the FT and all PT 6 week wallingtons. Jobs have been advertised on the board so there have become more vacant duties due to the staff moving. Our DOM isn’t a fan of the 4 week wallingtons and his goal is to eventually phase them out. Now he plans to make any vacant 4 week duties back to a 6 week wallington. This includes some reserve duties. Can he do this? As a reserve myself, this means that to maintain my 4 Week wallington I have to remain a reserve and also there is no chance for anyone on a 6 week to sign to get a 4 week rota. Also by turning reserves from 4 to 6 week Rotas staff would have to be flexed up to cover the IPS sorting?

Any advice ?

He can't do anything unless it's agreed with you guys, if he's trying it on your rep should go to a disagreement. What has the rep said?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Basically we could put in a disagreement but will be able to do it via the IR framework and that's better we do it on good terms so its as painless as it can be.
