Part time /full time

( im new on the forum so I may be posting in the wrong place) why are part timers not allowed to apply for full time jobs ?

Of course you are.

The most senior person get the job gets the FT job, doesn't matter how many hours you're working.

Someone working just 20 hours per week can get a FT job over say someone who's working 30 hours per week. You just need to be the most senior person to apply

If your office is advertising full time positions where only full time members of staff can apply your union rep needs to be sorting this out ASAP

Because you have a contract that is xx hours a full timer has a 39 hour contract this will affect start time prep and leave slots the whole job is based upon duty structures if you put two part time staff in delivery together nothing will be prepped in the frame!

On the back of this, seen a few FT vacant duties advertised in the past year or so. Underneath all of them it states that if successful, part time employees will remain part time (I assume will be expected to book on a daily basis). Anyone know the guidelines on the bit not in brackets?

It's wrong, and what is under the advertised duties is wrong as well! Ok here we go.....what has the rep said/done about it?

Not sure as I havent asked him the question myself but as it's a recurring thing I guess nothing... I wouldn't be applying for any myself but I've read it on numerous occasions and thought surely that can't be right
