I think you’ll find seniority treats everyone equally anyone who is high up in the list has started in exactly the same place as everyone else at the bottom so there is no favouritism involved no matter who you are

There will be duties considered for ringfencing for employees covered under the equality act to pick according to their seniority

To answer that specific question. No

Just because they are covered by the EA does not mean they can pick any duty.

The EA means that Royal Mail should make reasonable adjustments. There are many ways to do this and this list is not exhaustive:

1. Ring fence specific duties that have been adjusted before a repick.
2. Make adjustments to the current duty.
3. Make adjustments to the duty the OPG selects in their turn.
4. Assign a covered OPG to a duty that is reasonable for their circumstances.
5. Reassignment to another role/office.

How and what method is chosen will be specific to each case and each office so an agreement should be reached between the manager and rep (with input from OH Assist/HR). Hopefully, the rep will be fully informed and advised by the OPG of their own specific circumstances so that a reasonable decision can be reached.
