WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO 35HR WEEK>>>
Surely the next logical step for the Union is to insist on a shorter working week.
If RM say they have to implement a speed restriction on vehicles then can we not be the same as our Euro buddies and work less hours and get more holidays, maybe this would get the union some face back in what has been a piss poor fight, conceding ground left /right always saying more ground will be made up at the next hurdle,£400 basic etc etc, and what was said about the flexability? no-one will have to work more than their 40hrs!! Come on Big Dave, get us a shorter week and RM will have to rethink start times, keep dely,s to no more than 3 hrs at best so we will need all the staff we can keep, oh and that means more Union fees foe youand Big Billy!!
Well the thirty five hour week will be along time comeing now for we had our best shot deflected into our foot with this ballot from hell for we have given up all our brargining position to royalmail on this and many other thing's we can only defend for now!.
Its a pity we cant make all the 40 hr FT and 30 hr PTs all 35hrs each (if they want)

Im all for the 35 hr week but given the fact that most of you on here have proved you cannot complete your duties doing a 40 hr week i think its highly unlikely you will see this in the near future remember the motion passed at this years conference allows the union till 2012 before this needs to be brought in.

Hence my suggestion of PTs up to 35hr week then they would sort on IPS just like the ex 40hr FTs - everyone on 35 hrs and doing IPS sounds fair to me.

We had the opportunity but while we set our sight's to low we shot ourself's in the foot in doing so and we now find ourself's on the back foot. Royalmail said it did not have any money (lie) and we have spare time on our hand's ie upto 2 hour's a day (lie) we could of spilt the differnce no pay rise 1 hour a day off the working day. Now they will come for our 2 hour's they say we are not working for our £17.50 a week payrise. if we got 5 hour's off the working week it would be equivalent to £40.60 . now that's what i call a dumb move, postmen/postwomen our paying for increased chilld care cost more than the value of the pay increase. FOR WE LACKED A VISION FOR OUR CAUSE AND NOW WE WILL PAY THE PRICE!.

As I've never came across a decent part time walk (in my office all the P/T'ers have the longest and heaviest walks) could this mean that the walks would be equalised. I'm sure in most offices that part timers are last in and have no seniority. I'm part time and I've only been here for 7 years and in an office of 100 people I'm roughly in the mid 70's in the seniority list.
It doesn't really matter once L&C get their way, we'll all be bl***y part time doing 5 hour deliveries!
