don't forget the working groups on annualised hours and monthly pay, and the end of MTSF.
They want it to be Commercially viable with a sensitive approach.
That means they say sorry when they don't give you as much as you would have got if you go the EVR or VR route.

Please do not forget that we will be given a vote on pensions and monthly pay.
Too big issues that the rank and file will have the final say on.
Monthly pay will be intresting, in my office most of the comments are around what sort of incentive will be offered and what the negotiaters come up with rto keep us going from last weekly pay to first monthly pay.
I think that RM/CWU (presuming monthly pay deal is reached) should pick a month with 5 fridays in and pay us as normal up to and including payday no 4 and then give us are first monthly pay on the last friday of the month.

VR is Voluntary Redundancy, ie a lump sum dependent on your length of service and age (minimum 26 weeks).
EVR is Early Voluntary Retirement, ie if you are over 50 you can get your pension (enhanced by up to 6.66 years) with the appropriate lump sum (3x Annual Pension if you are A/B class pension scheme member).
Problem is that RM have been reluctant to give people between 50-55 EVR, and have only been offering them the VR lump sum, up to a maximum of 102 weeks.

re: 50-54 & monthly pay
Unfortunately ppl around the age of 50-54 (mainly lifers) are too expensive to give redundancy to. What does this mean? Basically it will cost less to keep them employed upto retirement rather than let them go early.
As a company that is trying hard to make cost savings in exchange for investment these kind of things are necessary, and it applies to people across the company regardless of pay grade.
Monthly pay:
The infrastructure to provide weekly pay is huge. Imagine the potential cost savings by running pay only 1/4 of the current time and resources currently required. This will inevitably lead to job reductions in the 1,000+ pay department (the faces you don't see based in Sheffield). By reducing the costs in these central/shared services it is less likely that a job has to go at the frontline (though it is not a guarantee).
I personally found in Ops the paperwork required each week really took away focus from running and providing the service. Maybe there will be some problems implementing this, but if staff are given a percentage of the savings then you will in the near future appreciate the approach. I hope so as I'm prepared to endorse such an approach. If it doesn't work then I'll eat my words
