Only ten days in to the process and suppose your Dom admits "It's looking like a NO vote", and supposing he's not talking about your branch but nationaly,and combine this with the belated cash carrot.

Now it could be chinese whispers but if accurate how massive would the NO vote have to be to trigger such early speculation.

Oh I do hope your DOM is right.

If we secure a No vote it will be a victory for those who can see the long-term damage of reduced pensions vs a short-term carrot of £175 + backpay (on a shite pay deal that isn't even fully backdated to April).

A triumph of wisdom over greed is what I'll be celebrating when the official result is declared

My question is does anyone have any solid info on how the vote is going so far ?
i.e is there anyone that knows a friend of a friend of the people that are commisioned
to count the votes or has anyone visited the count site as i heard we were within our rights
to do so ?

I don't know anyone at the count site, not even Dracula , but to get the result declared at the earliest possible opportunity, would the vote-counters wait until all the votes are in (and the official closing date has passed), before opening any of the envelopes ??? Or is it more likely that given a potential 130,000 ballot papers to count, they would count them as and when they are received ?? If it's on an 'as-received' basis, wouldn't you expect both RM and the CWU to want to get 'inside info' on the likely outcome, ahead of the close of the ballot ??

My guess is that this DOM has heard these chinese whispers and they started from a leak at the company counting the ballot papers.

It certainly might explain why I got that 'Vote YES' card from the CWU today, well after the majority of people who are going to bother to vote have already sent their ballot paper off (sent mine off last week!). Smacks of desperation to me. After all, a NO vote would be a vote of no confidence in our negotiators, and they don't want that

It was in the press at the time if I remember correctly. Some Branches did send in motions condemning this, as it enabled Keggie to get supporting Branches to push their members to get Yes votes in.
I would expect that this is happening with this vote too.

Not Wishing to offer false hope, but given this deal is clearly an extremely poor one for the membership and has been recognised for what it is, to predict a no vote when barely half way through the process suggests a huge response and an emphatic rejection of the so called agreement . If this scenario proves accurate or even a possibility branches must start organizing their response immediately to pre empt a face saving ,will sapping fudge that will surely be the response of the wounded parties

i think the cash carrot will win the weaker members over and i fear a YES vote
a few of the guys ive spoken to have voted yes simply cause they dont want to go back on the street before xmas

More info. on a large DO in the soft south today circa. 200 staff word is NO- 100% yes-not one . Nothing marginal there

My feeling is that all the "NO" gut have seen that their votes are needed to get a NO vote so most if not all No voters would have sent their ballots in straight away.

Also the definite "Yes" voters have voted along the same lines as they can also see its important to vote.

Now its quiet likely that at present the "No" returns outnumber the "Yes"but we now have to wait for the to get their acts together. Unfortunately most of the fence sitters will see the "bung" part of the deal and vote Yes.

I just wish everyone voted with their conscience and not their wallets.
