Accident at work

Hi ...need some advice...I slipped in the toilets at work..sustained a fracture...don't get paid sick as not quite completed a year and need to pay bills so advised to take time off annual leave?? Doesn't make sense....???

Are you in the union?
If not were any notices of slip hazard in place and did you record it in the accident book or ERICA which is done on the computer at work on the day or a few days after at maximum?
Lot's of questions I know but if you are in the Union contact them before posting on here. But if not you can claim against anyone or company if warnings were not in place but it will cost you a lot hence being in a union. All the best by the way hope this helps you.

The sense is you'll get a wage during annual leave which is what you are worried about.

You should see a lawyer/Union about making a claim against RM for loss of earnings due to H+S failings. You should not be slipping over at work so there must have been an issue?

You have suffered a fracture, unless you are unfortunate enough to have sustained it in your neck or back I would strongly urge you to contact your Manager and inform them that you wish to return to work under amended duties whilst you recover fully from your accident. If they are unable to provide you amended work at your or a nearby office, then they will have to request that you remain at home, this shouldn't be to your detriment.

If you are absent from work due to illness, accident or otherwise, and you are not receiving wages during that time, make a claim for help from the benefits agency if you need to.
Do not give up your holidays, they are legally yours to use for breaking up your year so that you can work refreshed and without further accident throughout the year.
RM will not return your holidays as part of any subsequent compensation claim but any financial loss can be included.
