Annual leave when notice handed in

Post by Gary1989 »

Hi,

I've worked for Royal Mail for two years and have just put my notice in to change jobs. I only have to give a weeks notice but gave 3. I've just found out though that I have 2 weeks annual leave left to take but my dom is saying I can't take them because there is no availability but I will still get paid for them once I leave. Is that right? I know I'll get the lump sum but I would really have my last 2 weeks off.

Thanks,

Gary

If this outstanding 2 weeks annual leave is for 2016/2017 and our financial year ending on 31st March 2017 then your DOM is correct you will be paid for them in your leaving wage slip. Having given 3 weeks notice this would take you up to the 24th March. As you are 7 days adrift this may reflect in the amount of leave paid. Try for 1 week instead.
