In my office there is due a re pick of 600 duties due to cost efficiency. Can anyone tell me where I stand in this circumstance i.e are the night duties ring fenced or in the pot with the rest of the duties.

Night duties must first be signed by those on nights based on either night seniority or how long you have been on nights. This applies to late shift who receive a late allowance as well.

Why ? Well under MTSF there is a section which enables people to have pay protection if they were to lose their allowance from the impact of either a reduction of duties or major change.

This is why they do not allow in a resign someone on days to sign for a late or night duty as that will result in Royal Mail having to pay twice. First for the new person on nights who will receive the night allowance and than have to pay for the person who was on nights and got knocked off nights pay protection.
