Is there a procedure for voting an area rep out who cannot be bothered to visit units for years or offer decent phone support. He has been asked countless times to support with a visit.
2 offices are asking the question, roughly 175 members would support it.

Or a better alternative so he does his job without the need for negative actions ? Already approached Branch & Div but just closed ranks.

Does your area rep visit the shop floor ?

Our,s is useless we had a vote of no confidence recently steadfastly refusing to go thank goodness an election is due soon. dissaffected members just signed a sheet of paper and gave it to branch secretary who basically said no point in it as election is due soon.

no he doesn't visit , he is sent every week a list of problems and does nothing so the dims just do what they want when they want ,to busy running round for the ones in the ivory towers pushing all there political bumf to members instead of dealing with the day to day issues, we don't matter , mind you he is full release though , roll on any election.

Calling in the Area Rep is the only way we get anywhere to be honest. Management refuse, block, deny and lie about all of the basic working methods. Our office rep is next to useless and just goes along with the Dom to ensure his easy life goes on, no one in the office will go to him with a problem. Therefore the area rep is used as a primary contact.
If he does turn up, the Dom then backtracks and disguises the issues "Oh, they have misunderstood " Blagh blagh. So it goes on and on.

If WE actually stood togetherbetter maybe we would actually get somewhere.... But alas that never happens for long.

We are more to blame as units than any Area or Office rep. IMHO

Ours only turns up when somebody is up for the chop.
When he comes in he goes straight to the`feathered nest` with the local rep and his two sycophants, doesn't speak to any of the ex reps and we have at least 3 all who have quit because of a lack of support and doesn't speak to any of the members, but he is always laughing and joking with the management.
When a member does confront him about something he nearly always sides with the managers, we think he's more like a manager than a rep. :speak to the hand
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

We had an Area Rep come in once because there was a flashpoint. He went to the manager's office, didn't speak to anyone on the shop floor and gave us a spiel that we should follow reasonable instructions etc. Loads of muttering and general bad attitude in his direction and then off he went.

He was very surprised when he was voted out of office at the next election.

The lesson, for reps, don't upset your voter base. For members, do what the CWU push, if your unhappy, organise, communicate and campaign for a replacement at election time. It works if they piss enough members off and if you have a replacement in the wings.
