Reasonable adjustments

Post by Mrs Postman »

I've just come back from a long absence which I still have not recovered nor been told what's wrong with me,
Still under investigation and tests and scan s to be done in the near future,
most probably you know from my post that I've come back earlier than I wanted due to been told that I was been considered for ill health,

Advise I need is,
How much of a reasonable adjustment should the business go, to help there employee carry on working for the company,

I am a rural delivery postman which I am going to struggle to do due to my problems,

All advise welcomed :nana

It is very difficult to expect an employer to make reasonable adjustments to your duty on a condition that has yet to be diagnosed and may not be covered within the Equality Act 2010 although the act does have widespread symptoms to be brought into consideration other than medical conditions that can obviously be seen. For example the period of time you have had these problems whether consistent or a reoccurrence at various times. Your ability to perform everyday tasks that your condition prevents you from completing these tasks that a fit person would not have the same difficulty in performing. As you have stated that you have returned after a long absence then at some period you would have been referred to OH Assist and they would have sent a report to management and copied you in on their recommendations for you to return to work duty adjustments and/or rehabilitation plan to be monitored by weekly meetings. You have also stated that your condition is still under investigation and awaiting scans and therefore you would have been seen by a specialist consultant and there will be a report on their current findings which you would be in possession of and you can give your consent for this report to be sent to OH Assist. You have returned to work to avoid IHR so on what conditions have you returned to work that RM has agreed to ? RM would have to consider on the symptoms that your are describing and with consultation with OH Assist that at some period of time you will be in a position to perform all the tasks that your duty requires or if this is unlikely in the foreseeable future they may cut their losses and grant IHR. If this happens their is always an appeal process you can take with back up from our GP and consultants reports.
