Buying Leave

Can someone answer this question please...

If a person buys annual leave, should that duty be covered by a reserve or even be offered on overtime as Royal Mail are getting money back from that person?
Surely it shouldn't be absorbed as that would mean Royal Mail are saving money twice?

I know it's a popular thing buying leave, but we have people in our office with 20 days owing and they can't take them

Anyone buying A/L would have to register their interest by the February before and it would be added to their A/L quota. They would then pick their A/L in the same way as everybody else.

Absorption is an entirely separate issue that would be dealt with using the nationally agreed tools.

We got told the same in our office the other day.

Normally when someone used their odd days owed for a holiday the manager would have another member of staff in on overtime to cover the duty.

We have been told that no odd days have to be given and if they are then the duty that the person who has the day off would normally be doing, is to be lapsed among the other staff and NO overtime to be given to cover.

I'm interested in buying a weeks leave in march 17. I started with RM April 16 so wasn't there to register my interest in the February for it to be added to my quota.

you will only be able to buy another full week starting from 17/18 allowance now
