has anyone got any information on the new tracker systems they have put on most vans over the last few weeks?????

is this just in the bristol area or nationwide?????????????//

They have been put in all our 600 vehicles at Watford,unsure about the smaller vans,but my guess they will be installed in them over the next couple of weeks.I dont think the tracking system has gone live yet,but as we know RM are skint,so why the fcuk have they splashed out on this tracking system for the whole fleet.....how much must that of cost

NO it is handheld's for deliviery postmen/women trial's are to be railroaded into some office see ltb on union website.

trackers being installed nationwide and dont worry about a tracker in your bag every walk person will be issued with a hand held scanner which will no doubt have a gps facility so they will be able to keep track of you,for your own personal safety of course.(as if)

They've just finished installing all the trackers in our vans, i've heard the gps rental on these things is Â£28 per week per vehicle, how big is the RM fleet?

Also they have just started installing frame lights and fans above every frame in our office, asked the engineer fitting them about the cost per unit, he would'nt tell me, but I bet its not cheap. RM will be in the red next year but of course they won't blame their spending it will be put down to us striking

33000 van's truck's artic's they think they can get it down to 25000 to 26000 though with these thing's

I was partially involved in this when it was investigated two years ago. If I remember correctly the union only agreed to it's installation on the strict provision that it wouldn't be used as a spying tool.

The idea is basically to improve the efficiency of the fleet in terms of routes etc... down time and so on. It should have no bearing on the invidiual, though that might change over time.

As for the handhelds, I assume this will begin to allow for ditigal signatures rather than taking around cards for people to fill in. This should improve real-time delivery on recorded and special delivery items, and begin to reduce the incidence of lost items and dodgy claims.

The telemetry may also improve information about vehicle performance, and maintenance issues?

Obviously with GPS some might wonder if they will be used to spy on people. Simply the uion would have taken everyone out on strike if that was the case. Civil liberties etc....

I think it is clear that mis-trust is there between frontline and management (remember you all work for RM). That in understandable, but try and give them some credit for attmepting to bring the company into the 21st century, as most other couriers, europe company's have these in place already.

As for Al & Adam having shares, well insider trading has never existed has it?

Just ask the former senior mgr at Mount Pleasant London and who got the multi-million pound contract to replace all the windows?
