So yesterday are manager tells us we all have 2 do indoor lapsing despite the traffic being heavier than what was forecast. Anyone who objected and wanted to finish on there time was told to push mail under there frame to get out and were not allowed to follow the national agreements that are in place. Manager reckons that he is the boss and that we do what he says.
Do the national agreements mean nothing to the managers now and how do we stop this practice from happening.
Is lapsing not only were the time exists within a duties hours

Lapsing should not affect QOS ie cut offs, streaming, leaving loops.
Rep should be on to area rep asap.
Your manager is talking bollox.

They're all at it at the moment , 10 walks to be lapsed next week. No ifs or buts lapsing will be taken orders from up on high apparently. Lapsing dropped on every walk this morning , if you can't do it , take it for a drive and show it the sights and bring it back. Placed on a york near the door and the new starters were pressured in to taking it on their way home  on O/T ( bet they don't get payed for it either as they're crossing out O/T again ).

When you say push mail under their frame, what exactly do you mean? ie what type of mail and where exactly did it come from before it went under the frame? (depending on your answers it may be allowed under very specific circumstances and not be against any agreement)

All the manual mail received down from the mail centre was sorted at the ips frames into each duty then was brought round to the frames by the porter. Those who said that they needed finished on time and anyone else not wanting overtime were told to push whatever mail they reckoned it would take to allow them to finish on time under the frames. The Rep questioned the manager and was told that its the managers decision and was a direct order. Any mail that went out through the door had to be delivered regardless of the national agreements as no failures allowed but workplan failures acceptable orders from above.
Can we not refuse this type of bullying behaviour as we are now all share holders.
Assistant manager told us regardless of traffic figures everyone has to do the lapsing orders from above, even those who claim overtime daily as there duties where never tested.

Ok that mail has been processed it has touched an ips frame so is due for delivery, if it was a box that came straight off the lorry and hadn't been sorted then under certain circumstances that could have been left

refusing is not really an option all you can do is follow the over running deliveries procedure and cut off or claim the ot depending on what you want or manager allows

your manager can fill your time basically with any opg task he wants, so if he wants lapsing done prior to your own walk etc then that's his decision, your decision is whether to work to your time or not

now postman above gave you a few email addresses, use them, your manager is making a mistake and possibly not reporting things correctly, he has to report all mail failures and walk failures, 1 walk failing (the lapsing one) would be understandable but 6 or 7 walk failures and he will be in the shite, so every single walk that mail is being left under a frame is a walk failure straight off the bat, I would put money that he is not reporting that, that alone is worth emailing moya about as for mail failure he is supposed to count each type of mail failed and report accurately so he should be checking every single box and counting it and then reporting it, he is allowed to fail mail going out but only if he is reporting it properly which generally is not happening when the tactics you describe are being used

Are the email addresses of Moyna etc anonymous or will the management be able to trace it back to see who has reported them and in return make things difficult for one's self.
Would a grievance do any good or should the rep be putting in a disagreement.
Due to the bullying culture that seems to be rife within some offices at the moment some staff are afraid to put there head on the chopping block.

To be honest though unless it's a breach of security or effects you personally I would hold-off throwing any accusations about.

Just grass, managers are taking the piss, you don't have to out yourself you are a concerned employee.
Agreements are agreements.
Who does the mail that is left over, double work for part of the walk the next day, more pressure, bullying and lies on posties to finish due to double work.

And yes, the rep should be on it like a rash and flagging it up to area, and the DSM if he has contact details.

The workforce are being mugged over and wankey reps are letting it go on!

How many area reps are there for the bt area as I have heard that some of them know all about this practice and are failing to push this up the line as they get on well with the DSM's.
Is every office suffering from this s**t if so what is the point of national agreements or being in the union

a few of you send an email and pics to bob gibson and Moya and I can guarantee it will stop and whoever has give the instruction to stream mail will get there arse kicked big style , they tried this in our area , a few emails to Moya and it was stopped quicker than it started , she also sent some top knob down asking staff in the office what was going on etc there was a few managers arses twitching , I bet it doesn't happen again , and your rep should be sticking the boot in straight away area , div reps told , and stick it in as a flash point.
