Voluntary Ill health retirement ??

Can any one explain the difference Between IHR with lump sum and voluntary IHR? What are the implication if VIHR is taken, then claiming benefits from the DSS? Will I still keep my shares?

Is there such a thing as 'voluntary ill health retirement'?
Surely they either offer you ill health retirement or not, and if not then surely you are just resigning?
Think you need to give a bit more detail.

Never heard of Voluntary IHR to be honest. Unless of course not putting in an appeal when you are IHR is in effect a VIHR.

Bypassing Occupational Health on a Medical matter

That would be unique, but not impossible I suppose. OH Assist (our OHS) are usually involved as they give a medical recommendation for retirement or placement in another role, so how they would bypass them and still meet the requirements under H&S legislation is, frankly, beyond my scope of knowledge.

Thanks TBT, OHS have said if you don't meet the IHR requirements you can take voluntary IHR, they have said financially it's exactly the same. I'm really confused!

Yes they get paid for you leaving so think on.

With IHR you need lots of evidence from doctors ect, as IHR is actually a form of dismissal, you can't reject IHR unless you can prove you will be able to return to full duties within the next 9 months. As such, it takes a long time, which is not ideal as your manager will not be able to recruit until you are off the books.

VIHR is exactly the same payout (9 months salary + A/L accrued I believe) but a lot quicker, so the benefit for the business is they can then recruit straight away.

In both cases you don't lose your shares, although I'm not sure you're actually allowed to keep them; I believe they are sold on your behalf and you are paid the money tax free within a few weeks of leaving.

Is vihr really something that happens if so where are the agreements because I cannot find one.Really would like to know because I would be interested in this
