Dear Colleagues who have to put up with lieing screws!!!!
Further to LTB 940/07 circulated to Branches on the 22nd October 2007 in respect of the above.
A number of representatives have informed CWU Headquarters that local and area managers are advising them that their particular office/Unit will be taking part in the trials detailed within the Pay and Modernisation Agreement. The purpose of this LTB is to confirm to Branches/Representatives that no discussions have taken place with the National Union regarding the location of the trial sites and no decision will be made until the agreement has been endorsed by a ballot of the unions membership.
In view of the statements made by management in these areas it is clearly important that the unions position as detailed above is clarified to management if representatives are approached regarding any aspect of the trials. Furthermore local management should be reminded of the terms of Paragraph 1 of the National Joint Statement - Restoring Good Industrial and Employee Relations which has been reproduced below for ease of reference.
The following process will urgently be deployed and overseen by GM's and CWU Divisional Representatives.
All relevant managers/CWU interfaces will meet to calm situations down and find sensible solutions to any local issues. Everybody should work together to bring about a fresh start in the sprit of the proposed national agreement.
Any attempt to pursue trial activity which has not been agreed nationally should be reported to CWU HQ because the Union will view this as abrogating the Spirit and intent of the Joint Statement and undermining out joint commitment/efforts to restore good Industrial and employee Relations.
