Is there a maximum amount of hours a non driver can work in any given week having opted out of the maximum 48 hour Eu working directive. Been at logger heads with rm all week. They're quoting 70 hours but I'm sure this only applies to drivers. There's nothing on the government website that states there's a ceiling.

it may be up to the employer. I know our DOM has been ''advised'' by his superiors about people going over 70 hrs at our office, so he stopped it. it was normally people who were on annual leave that were going over this ridiculous amount though. normally the highest in ours is about the 15-20 hours mark, but even that's rare now as they've just started 4 new people.

People in our office routinely work over 70 hours, nothing much said other than watch your hours. If you're helping the bosses they'll basically turn a blind eye.
Technically the way forward agreement says 65 hours is the max. The 70 hours comes from an automated warning on the PSP system. I've heard people claim the 70 hours is averaged across 6 weeks etc. but I've not read anything about that.
Be warned though, if you're exceeding the hours put down by management and you have an accident you will take the blame. Having said that, christmas time anything goes, so make of that what you will.

I know someone who has recently been spoken to and told they can't book any more than 80 hours OT a week.
