Voting for 1in4 or 1in6

We are going through an indoor revision. We currently have mostly 1in 6 duties with the rest as 1in4. We were told if we stay as we are then we will lose around 8 full timers which will be transferred to other offices. If we vote 1in6 we will lose just 3. Just before the vote happened, the union decided that 1in4 must stay, hence the vote was cancelled. Most of the office are unhappy about this. Is there anything that can be done to make a vote happen.

When we told the area rep we wanted a vote he said we were acting selfeshly. We have already lost two full timers.

If the vote has been stopped then so has the revision.
If the revision has been stopped you don't lose any full-time staff.
I'm not sure why you're desperate for a vote that can only be bad news for some of your members.

Because the union has decided for us that we would go for 1in4. We thought at least if we had a vote that we could damage limitation and not lose as many full timers.

When you say lose 3, is that 3 people voluntarily being transfered or is it going to be forced?

Forced. But now because of keeping 1in4 it will be 7 I think

Just wondering what is the exact process when being forced to transfer. I know in my other thread you mentioned 90 days? Do they need to give this in writing. 2 ppl from our office this week were told they were being transferred starting next week. And if I volunteered to drop my hours down, when does this start. After the repick? Nobody is telling anybody anything about this indoor revision

If the transfer is forced then it comes under the mtsf agreement, they must give 90 days notice in writing to both union hq and the posties involved, as it's forced it's technically a compulsory redundancy situation and as such must give the statutory 90 days notce

You really need to speak to the people involved and the union.
It's unlikely to be a transfer, transferring offices needs the involvement of hr. It doesn't happen overnight, these surplus staff are more likely to be loaned to other offices.

I'm telling you the area union rep is all for this. Our office rep is fighting it. We was supposed to maintain a certain bmi for 6 weeks. 90 I think. Then ppl would be moved out. That's what the area rep and the dsm agreed. We haven't hit them targets, so the dsm and area rep agreed them targets are not gonna happen soon. So they both said its fine to start getting rid of ppl.

It's not a loan. Not VR or buy downs offered as well. I prob would take a buy down but they have refused us.

Our manager or union have not given in writing to anyone about this. It's been mostly hearsay until a few weeks ago we had a meeting saying 7 of us are being moved out. They're wanting me out in about three weeks but not had any meeting about this, just a casual ,'your going soon, bye'

And has anyone emailed Moya about it yet?

Yes someone in our office has emailed Moyà but I think it was at the beginning when we heard all about this several weeks ago. Since procedures aren't being followed I think it's about time we all sent her an email.

I think yes he's put in a stage 1 grievance.

make sure it's a stage 1 disagreement nit a stage 1 grievance they are two different things and it's a disagreement you want at the moment

This is what pisses me off about royal mail. We were recently cajoled into all one in sixes because that's what the business wants. Union rep went round saying to new starters, join, vote for one in six and you'll be made up to 30hrs. It sucks. From nine day fortnights to one in sixes in 18 months. Yet other offices are still on nine days and one in four.
