No. There's the principle involved.
That being said, I realize a lot of people can't afford to lose a day and wouldn't blame them if they don't want to.

And if you're prepared to cross theirs you're just as bad as them.daveyeff wrote:they crossed OUR picket line when we were on strike without batting an eyelid.

What ae the legal implications of not going to work when you have not been balloted for strike action yourself?Rumple wrote:And if you're prepared to cross theirs you're just as bad as them.daveyeff wrote:they crossed OUR picket line when we were on strike without batting an eyelid.
Would refusing to cross their picket line possibly lead to dismissal?

Yes it could, but by going on strike you can be dismissed anyway. http://www.inbrief.co.uk/employees/sack ... riking.htm#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
On the government website it mentions that after 12 weeks you can be dismissed if the management has attempted to settle the dispute.When is an employer able to legally dismiss employees who have taken part in a strike?
An employer will be legally able to dismiss employees who have taken part in a strike and will therefore be immune from an unfair dismissal claim provided that the dismissal is not automatically unfair and one of the following conditions is met:
The employee is participating in an unofficial strike
The employer has dismissed all employees who have participated in an official strike at the same establishment and has not offered to re-engage any of those employers on selective grounds within three months of the dismissal
https://www.gov.uk/industrial-action-st ... ial-action" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also there is a clause that non-union members cannot be dismissed for striking
Now whether that would apply to nonmembers of the CMA but who happen to be members of the CWU is open to question.Industrial action by non-union members
Non-union members who take part in legal, official industrial action have the same rights as union members not to be dismissed as a result of taking action.

I doubt there'd be a picket line at my DO but would maybe make my way to the nearest one with the sole intention of crossing it

This bollox crops up every now and again, same end result every time.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Would be a tiny picket line, think we only have 3 managers on any given day now?
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Cross their picket line?
I'd f***ing dance across it with two fingers on each hand giving them the traditional salute.
