Trouble Getting Outstanding Mileage Paid

I'm owed nearly 1000 miles from 6th January from travelling to a different DO from my base. Since I transferred offices there has been a dispute between my old boss (who I accrued the mileage with) and my new boss. My union rep mentioned that it wasn't a high enough level for the CWU to be interested in helping me with.

So I'm left on my own with this, has anyone got any suggestions on any further steps I could take? It is really stressing me out & affecting my day to day life at work and home & I was surprised that the CWU wouldn't help as it's money earned whilst working surely?

Refuse to use your car? If you are based at an office and they want you to work at another, it is my belief that you report for work at your start time at your parent office and they have a responsibility to get you to the other office and back to your base in time to finish your duty. I stand to be corrected on that though.

ouch - 1000 miles, that's about 450 quid I think.

Have you actually submitted any travel claim paperwork (I've submitted previous mileage claims on a P6007 - Business Travel Expenses Claim Form')
as a start or have you just verbally asked your previous line manager/DOM to sort it out? Conversations seem to be very easily forgotten by managers.......

Hindsight's a wonderful thing as it would have been best to get your claim sorted before
you transferred, and as I've also found, when trying to rectify overtime errors or claim mileage from
an office other than your parent office it's a right pain because you're 'out of sight out of mind' or it's 'I'll make a note of
it', 'I haven't forgotten', 'Yes, I'll do it tomorrow' when they're on their day off tomorrow.

Not sure what the best way forward is with this - if you haven't submitted any claim paperwork I think that's your first step
as it's start of a paperwork trail. If you can find out your previous line maangers/DOM's Royal Mail email address it would
be even better to send it to him/her that way.

Can't believe the union are unable to help with this.

Was it a local rep who said that, I suspect it was because they've not faced this before. My advice is with all due respect ignore him and write a letter to branch (Area Delivery Rep) and lay out the facts as clearly and unemotionally as possible. If my guess is right and you have a paper trial, this would be an ideal case for the FTR (Full time Release Reps) to get their teeth into.

I suspect you have the same Area Delivery Rep as we do , when we have asked for help he has been pretty good , give him a ring and I'm sure your problem will get sorted.

Thank you everyone for your advice, I have sent an un-emotional email to my Area Delivery Rep regarding the 1,020 miles I'm owed. I do hope he can help as I've only heard good things about him.

At the latest count, both managers are blaming each other for the £459 debt & another manager mentioned they could be waiting until April to pay me when their new budgets came through.

UPDATE: All mileage has now been paid after my Area Rep became involved. I am so impressed with the speed of his response. Big thumbs up!

And thank you to those that suggested contacting a higher level rather than leaving it with my Office Rep (who said not to chase it!)
