Firedrill (unless you are prepping absorption boards)

In our DO recently we had a Firedrill but the people prepping absorption boards were able to stay , also we have had no Work time learning for atleast a month , is this ok?

Yes, no problem.
In several years of working for Royal Mail I've NEVER had a fire drill and NEVER had Work Time Learning.

and I've no reason to believe that I've needed either.

And, more to the point, never had a canteen or even a drinks machine.

I think the manager can man magic people around outside the office at his will if there is a fire it would save the fire brigade a job maybe even do them out of a job either that or he don't care about a few dead postie's and his job!

Yes nothing wrong with it all, it can even be used as a training/checking exercise to make sure that the roll call is taken properly. They can't do it themselves, but the manager can instruct them to stay. However, if its done just so they can carry on prepping then that would probably be questioned eventually.

A manager can instruct someone to stay behind in a fire drill, really? Leaving people in a hypotheticaly burning building hardly complies with fire safety regulations surely.

Yes

If its really burning obviously not.

But if they are testing the roll call procedure, there is little point in everyone turning up, it tests nothing.
