this is probably aimed at Northern reps as it has undoubtedly happened to them in the last few weeks.

looking at tomorrow weather forecast for the area I work in and we are expecting 50 - 60 MPH winds from 6am - 6pm with heavy thundery rain.

if I or another member feels that we feel it is too dangerous to go out on delivery that we can refuse to go out?

there are 3 or 4 rural deliveries and a lot of HCT ones as well.

just looking for advice really in case I am asked by a member tomorrow morning.

I'm not a rep but we've had these winds and rain over the last few weeks. We still had to go out no advice given by rep and DOM said to hold onto van doors with both hands and park into the wind. Nice he was worried about the vans over us :(

It's a brutal day getting through it . . . .

We got a Huddle advising us to look out for airborne objects and falling roof slates - that was it.

Make sure you use the brakes on your HTC if you have one or it may well have vanished when you get back to it.

Stay indoors, avoid travel, seek shelter, don't ask a manager for your welfare use your common sense.

Been on a street before with slates falling off houses and smashing in the road.

Keep in mind if a slate clocks you on the head it could be potentially fatal.

during high winds 2 yrs ago van door slammed against my head after receiving the usual weather warning huddle ie take care out there
all other public services were halted that day all services suspended
mgmt decided it was safe to deliver
no compensation from rm for head injuries ,cwu lawyers would not take on case as it was 50/50 in their opinion of winning case
i should have risk assessed it myself and made it safe by my decisions
ie if you go out in high winds its your own fault
btw on route to hospital that morning an elderly lady had to be rescued by emergency services as she was pinned to metal railings and couldnt move due to winds
if you dont feel safe dont do it
