bereavement

Post by frankfurters »

My partner has just lost his uncle and grandad all in the same week. I have been given a couple of days off to be with him and have been told I have to come back to work on Fri. (I haven't been told if my days off are unpaid or hols). Looking at how things are going I won't be able to return back to work on Fri. Will my time off go down as sick? I have told management I don't mind my time off being unpaid but I am still waiting to hear back from them.
Can they put it down as sick even though I'm not actually sick? I have had 13 days off this year due to sick and obviously worried about being staged. I don't mind taking my leave as unpaid.
Thanks

Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but they can not only put it down as an absence which would go towards attendance procedure but if dom was really wanting to be a prick he could put you down as awol and then you could face a conduct charge,

the decision whether to give you leave or even if that leave is paid or not is down to your managers discretion,

Or if its really worrying you at such a bad time in life,, you may end up sick through stress
