Have you a copy of your contract? That clause certainly isn't in mine. All overtime is voluntary, though they could offer to increase your contracted hours temporarily for Christmas.They would need you to agree to that tho.

As far as I know that's never been in anyone's contract ( at least not in the last 25 years ). A new (ish) manager told me that when I said I didn't want to be out delivering in the dark. She said I had to. I went and got my rep involved, and he put that one to bed. So your rep obviously doesn't know. Or he's a drinking buddy of your Dim.

Your contract hrs are your contract hrs full stop. All yr round. Only difference at Xmas is we aren't allowed annual leave in the two weeks leading up to it. Nobody has to do a minute over their contracted daily hrs. If you do and they don't pay you, say you'll come in late the next day and work to time. Gotta be firm but reasonable and polite. Also gotta be willing to work your hrs on the very rare occasions you may get back early if you're playing this way.

Nope - Overtime is not compulsory. Christmas or not.

Ask your rep and managers to put in writing that they will be paying you all extra EU Work Time Directive pay for compulsory overtime...

And watch them run a mile!
