Suspended for Social Media misuse

I've just been suspended for a post I made on Facebook complaining about not getting time off & management, stupid I know , don't know what I was thinking, am I looking at dismissal for gross misconduct ?

I called management f*ckin idiots , was not aimed at any individual, just a generalisation.

Should get away without being sacked maybe a 2 year serious, as long as you didn't say my mangers is a f**king idiot

Hmm I think I was grassed, I said RM management ran by f***ing idiots. This is the first time I've been in bother in 20 years service, so obviously worried about it.

Suspension seems a bit OTT, does it not? Probably not the best thing you could have said,but it is comment that is in daily use, in most offices, I imagine. Well it is in the ones I work in. What about fair comment?

We had 4 suspended for comments made on Twitter none of them lost their jobs and I don't think you will either , just apologise say how silly it was and was just a heat of the moment thing you now regret and it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular just the system , and also make sure you have a union rep with you , good luck

I don't see any problems with that comment. Most employees openly grumble about their management and not getting the holidays they want and I don't think it harms the reputation or competition of RM in any way.

Facebook has privacy controls so that only your personally selected friends can read your comments (on status' you start). If you have not already done this then I suggest you should.
While Facebook is classed as Social Media: if you make a comment in a fixed circle of friends then RM would find it hard to suspend you for a private conversation which they have no access to (despite RM guidelines saying you could be quoted etc).

Ask them to prove that they are not "Fecking Idiots". If they cannot prove it all you have done is speak the truth!

This matter is easily defended at disciplinary ,if it gets that far. If I, as a member of the public, go on Facebook ,or Twitter ,of whatever the latest platform is,and state that I was dissatisfied with Royal Mail's level of service,or any organisation, come to that and that,their management were a bunch of rank amateurs,what can they do about it? Nothing, so this chap, or chapess, as long as he wasn't representing the business in some fashion, is entitled to generalise about anything he likes,including "the management",if he feels strongly enough. I mean, it's not exactly earth shattering news, that an employee of a large organisation, has stated on a public platform ,about the general competencies ,or otherwise,of senior/local management. I take it it was in his own time and with his own equipment,what has it do with them? Tell me you don't have a full picture of yourself in full uniform on there!

But he's not a member of the public, but an employee who's been caught (and apparently suspended for) openly criticising his employer on Faceache.
Many have been sacked (not just in RM) for doing just this.
I hope your union rep is up to the mark because you're going to need him.
