Dog Bite - Am I being wound up?

I was bitten on the legs by a staffie cross in January, ended up with a couple of scars and had to report to police but then thought nothing more of it.

This morning an older guy at work who seems to know quite a lot of union stuff/management decisions etc said I could have claimed £1250 if I was in The Union, I've been in the job 3 years but haven't signed up because our rep is apparently useless in the role so I've always left it...is this true? I can't find any info online about it. It was the second dog bite I've had in 13 months.

Yes the union help you make claims for dog bites, however nothing to stop you doing it yourself, you actually have 3 years from date of incident to make a claim, if i were you i would call a no win no fee solicitor and see what they can do for you

join the union. The union is much bigger than your rep.

Don't make a claim because you would like some money. Claim because you lost pay or had to get taxi's to hospital etc. It is not a system to be abused but to genuinely compensate people who have lost out through someone else's mistake.
