Vote for best Executive

Post by Van Driver »

I overheard 2 other more experienced reps in my branch arguin about a PEC member who is well known for huge petrol and expense claims. One said this person had to be supported cos he had lots of votes to trade in return for our candidate the other said that was corrupt and we should support the best people. They didn't want to tell me who they were talkin about. I want to vote for people on there ability to do the job and wot there policies are and nothing else and hate the idea of trading votes which could mean the best person doesn't get elected. Can someone tell me who they were talkin about.

The CWU branch support system makes Zimbabwe look like a beacon of democracy. I think FIFA used the same model when they picked Qatar.

To my knowledge Her Majesty Custom & Excise have been crawling all over CWU HQ in respect of expenses claimed from reps, any future claims for expenses must now meet the guidelines laid down by them.

Not on a public site as it could be dangerous for the site, the employment prospects of the poster naming anyone, and of course could result in large legal bills for all concerned.

"There are two sides to corruption:
1) Those that see and feel the corruption because they are the victim of it.
2) Those who pretend that there is no corruption because they are profiting from it."

So the inference that you are a member of a communication workers organisation is greatly exaggerated then :nervous

I would argue with the Term "Communication" because there seems to be very little of that going on, although I'm certainly working Hard Enough! :Boo hoo!
Sometimes I wonder who is the Bigger Bull Shitter...Billy or Moya? :hmmmm

Oopps, am new to this and wasn't thinkin. thanks for putting me right. Just as well as I went back to Reps in question and they spilt the beans but I wont put in print. What I was told was the person was well known to a lot of senior reps and most on this sight would kno who he was but would turn a blind eye. I appreciate that people cant be outed but I thought there might be a bit of a debate about electin people based on abilty and principles, maybe the debate is somewhere else, if so please point me in right direction. Thanks

It was explained to me by someone in the know (so they say) that the taxman cant question how many times someone drives round a round about, I think they meant ring road. And as long as a receipt looks legit and not covered in beer its ok. I would like to think that our elected reps at that level do what they do as servants and if it is being abused it is stopped.

yes my friend we'd all like to think that however it's a gravy train so if you get on it good luck to you.
Locally our officer is jumping up and down for reciepts saying you cant have your money back without a reciept but he could loan himself the money at extremely favourable rates to but a car, but if you asked for the same, the branch doesn't have that sort of money for that sort of thing. The worst thing about it all is i wish i was making up.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Sad to hear of your experiences. Mine in the main are good, most union stewards iv known over many years in different industrys have been in it for the right reasons. I would never wish anyone luck for screwin the system anyone like that should be kicked of the train - I think you will agree. Perhaps the receipt situation has been a blessing in disguise, perhaps the rotten apple will get the message and do one or get a bus.

The silence is DEAFENINING are we all turning a blind eye to unacceptable activity?

If DW gets elected which looks odds on (and I think the best result) I understand we could be in for repeat elections which could last for the next year - SURELY we must not elect those at the top looking after themselves 1st and us last. If every one on here knows who the rotten apple/s are then without naming people at least admit it and say ull campaign and vote for decent honest people.
