Surgery

Post by power ranger »

I have been working for royal mail since 16th December 2013. I am part time 25 hours a week on 3 month rolling contracts, I have just been told I might need surgery and could be out of work for 4 to 6 weeks. I do not want to lose my job over this and would like to know my rights or where I stand on this situation.
thanks

You won't loose your job over it.

Tell your manager asap, you get paid sick pay after being with the company for 12 months. Worst case scenario you may get a stage 1 warning for the absence but that is just a formality the company have to do as far as I'm aware. Don't loose any sleep over it.

If the surgery is the result of a work related problem, which it usually is, you shouldn't get a stage 1 warning. :nana
