Is the Coaching allowance pensionable or not

Post by Mikky »

Both the 2006 and the 2014 agreement state:
On appointment every Coach will receive a weekly pensionable assigned allowance of £35.06
And I was told during interview that the allowance was pensionable.

But I'm now being refused it because I'm on the post 2008 Zurich pension, is this correct?

Would I be able to challenge this under equal pay laws?

Cant answer your question, but the same situation exists with the pensionable portion of night shift allowance, if you are in the dc Zurich scheme it is not pensionable. Although the wage slip clearly states it is pensionable. You may just have opened a can of worms.

As I recall it the older coaching allowance was not pensionable, leadership allowance was, this may have changed for the new version though, it used to list the details of allowances on the HR part of the Internal Royal Mail website but this was a long time ago.

Does anyone know how I would go ahead to challenge this? I am fairly confident Royal Mail is in the wrong here.
