stage 1 duration
now that a stage 1 only lasts 6 months till its struck from your record. does this still apply if you have any time off during the 6 months. ie,,,if you have 2 or 3 days off while on a stage 1 would it be be extended to 12 month or still stay at 6.

It says on the paper work you should have got about 'Stage 1' aka Attendance Review Outcome.daveyeff wrote:now that a stage 1 only lasts 6 months till its struck from your record. does this still apply if you have any time off during the 6 months. ie,,,if you have 2 or 3 days off while on a stage 1 would it be be extended to 12 month or still stay at 6.
You will stay on Stage 1 for 6 months FROM THE DATE OF YOUR NOTIFICATION OF BEING ON STAGE 1 unless you have either 2 FURTHER periods of absence or absence totalling 10 days or over.
So essentially in the six months following a Stage you can be off ONCE ONLY for MAX 9 days without triggering another Stage interview. Anymore than that you will likely (depends on circumstances and reason for absence) be bumped up to Stage 2 - or considered for dismissal if you are on Stage 2 already.
If any of you non-attendence was due to work-related injury that time off SHOULD NOT be considered in any dismissal decision.
footnote: no stages now last 12months, both 1 and 2 last 6 months from NOTIFICATION date.

Re: stage 1 duration
Edited post above to say a 6month Stage period runs from the date you receive official notification (LETTER) saying you are on Stage 1.
That is important because you can get this letter MONTHS after the absence!!!
EDIT 2 - HOWEVER it says two different things on my paperwork so not 100% sure about that now!!!
On my letter it both says :
if, from the date of your meeting, you incur further absences, further action may be taken'
AND
'Review 2 Prompt...absences in the next 6 months following an attendance review formal notification'
These are conflicting statements aren't they?

Re: stage 1 duration
Stage 1 and 2 both last for six months but stage 2 if you have 1 absence of up to 4 days in the 6months you come off the procedure but if you have 1 absence of 5 days or more you revert back to stage on 1 in the 6months period but as you stated for stage one you can have 1 absence of 9days in the 6months anything more triggers stage 2 but best thing to do is try and not go sick for 6 months if possible
