Hi Would like some advice please
When our revision came in 2yrs ago, all the Fulltime duties have the same start and finish time.
On a monday we have a shorter working day, by an hour, usually i dont have enough time to complete the duty, consequently I claim o/t or leave a bit of work behind. for the last few weeks , o/t is not being issued so I leave work behind using the proper procedure,
Management have asked to take off an hour from my saturday to put on the monday. can management do this ,
1. It would mean most of the office finishing there usual time on a monday within the finish time ,
myself having to stay out an hour later ?

Presumably they must think you finish an hour earlier on Saturday, otherwise where is the hour coming from or you would have to book or leave in on Saturday instead of Monday.

Except you know they'll just move the Saturday start time back an hour, rather than give you an earlier finish.dvbuk55 wrote:Presumably they must think you finish an hour earlier on Saturday, otherwise where is the hour coming from or you would have to book or leave in on Saturday instead of Monday.

Re: Can a duty contract time be changed
Simple answer is yes it can be changed if the manager wants, if you are not willing to change the simply follow the ir process and get your rep to put in a disagreement over the change and take it through the ir process through all the stages if need be

Thanks zx and all the replies , just that 95 per cent of the office do finish up too 2hrs before me, and before finishing time, but my driving duty is a lot longer , ,but they wont take the work off me

Re: Can a duty contract time be changed
If they are just changing your start time then effectively you are being treated differently to others and you may have a case of discriminating against you. Similar thing happened to me several years ago when the line manager attempted to impose the thirty minute flexibility clause when I informed him that I was going to work to my contracted hours. He did not impose the same flexibility clause against my colleagues and paid them overtime for the extended work they did. Put a grievance in which took over a year to resolve after an appeal but the outcome was that I had been treated differently to others which is not acceptable. Good luck if you challenge it.

Everybody would have to change hours not just one person everyone has to be treated the same.
