New manager new rules...
hrs have all now been changed for each day which means some weeks I'll be working more than my contracted hrs and only being paid my contracted hrs and some weeks I'll be working less, depending when my day off falls. But what happens when I have a week off as hols over the 6wk period I could be losing out and working for free!? Manager just replied could work the other way. Surely this is wrong? It's like Russian roulette will royal mail gain and get work out of me for in that 6wk period? Anyone else have this problem?
Also we've just been told we now have to take our breaks instead of working through them. So I start at 8am and before I go out on delivery I'm to have my break...so after only an hr of working my shift i am now forced to take my break surely this isn't right?
advice needed please

Moved to union room.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

For a normal 8 hour shift, the entitlement is 40 minutes. Your legal minimum 20 minute break MUST be taken in the middle of the day, the other 20 minutes can be at the direction of your employer or through local agreement.

as unpopular as this is the business has a responsibility to your health safety and wellbeing and as such must ensure you not only have the facility for a break within your attendance times but also that you take at the very least an element of it.louise80 wrote:New manager new rules...

scenario 1. you have an accident and its found that you have not had a break because you couldn't fit one in and fatigue could be a contributing factor. Who is to blame?
scenario 2. you have an accident and its found that you have not had a break because you chose not to take one and fatigue could be a contributing factor. Who is to blame?

i'm sure the list is nigh on endless.
Not what you want to hear i'm sure but the business is only covering its backside
