Can someone please confirm that I can apply for the union rep position at any time, or do I have to wait until a certain date before I can challenge his position. There is so much animosity toward our present rep that its needs addressing to protect the workforce.

As far as I know you can't unseat a sitting rep except at a formal election ballot (every 1 or 2 years), or by a Vote of No confidence. Another way to ameliorate a poor rep is to get a committee formed that way he can't make decisions without first going through the committee.

Position is normally held for up to 2 years and you will need to check the CWU notice board at your workplace when the various positions come up for re-election.
You will need to get the necessary form for the position you intend to apply for and this will require 2 nominees from the section to support your application.
If there is more than one applicant for this position then it will automatically go to a ballot.

And you intend changing this how?
The members will still have to pay into the cwu fund whether it's you as a rep or the current arsewipe.
The Area rep will still only visit your office once a year.
You can perhaps write a few sermon's on the merits on coming in on time,having your breaks,using the trolleys, etc ,blah blah blah and pin them up on the notice board and then the members will go back to drawing pictures of fannies and knobs on it or using it for emergency toilet paper.
