Work Place Coach Programme Delivery & Collections

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Letter to Branches

To: Branches with POSTAL Members

Dear Colleague,

Work Place Coach Programme Delivery & Collections - Recruitment and Training Campaign

Further to LTB 496a/14 concerning the revised national agreement covering Work Place Coaches (WPC) in delivery and collections a recruitment campaign has now been put in place to establish a 1:25 ratio across the UK. This campaign is expected to be concluded by March 2015.

All materials associated with the recruitment and advertising for new WPC have been agreed by the CWU Representatives on the People, Involvement and Training Strand of the Integrated Delivery Programme on behalf of the Outdoor Department.

In addition the WPC training programme, induction training material and lessons have also been agreed by the CWU. Branches should note that we were made aware that in some areas existing coaches were still being trained using old material that contained a full days training on World Class Mail (WCM). We can now confirm that all references to and terminology associated with WCM have been removed from the current material by agreement. Therefore, any training currently taking place should contain no reference to WCM. Discussions with Royal Mail regarding those WPC who have been trained using the old material, that includes reference to WCM have been taking place and we are currently awaiting a response on how this issue will be addressed.

A survey of WPC will be conducted asking how they are getting on with their role and this will be followed up with a formal review in 2015 assessing the performance of the coaches on how and if they are being used correctly and in line with the current National Agreement.

A further LTB will be issued in due course providing an update on the progress of the recruitment campaign and how this has been received by the WPC.

Any enquiries to Bob Gibson’s Office, quoting reference 230.

Yours sincerely

Bob Gibson

What does the training involve to be a wpc? As I have been doing it for around 8 weeks, but even I haven't had any training for it, is there a manual, training courses that I go on etc, thanks in advance

A quick question, can a Team leader getting leadership allowance become a WPC?

Is this when the runners all club together to justify all the time saving practices they do, including leaving mail in very dodgy places and using pouches to deliver loops from their "mobile bag drop" HCT?

I don't know what a Team Leader is, however the application job description specifically states;
Applications cannot be considered from employees currently performing a deputy manager role.
