It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I guess there are similar documents for other areas of the country? Do you have access to them?

It's funny to see us all as statistics, represents not only how insignificant we are but also how, despite all the speculation on here, in the dark we are too.

Statements like 'revert 7 temp F/T back to P/T and terminate 8 fixed term contracts' are easy for the upper men in suits to tap out on a keyboard but the number of lives negatively affected is immense. A prime example of a cold hearted private company needing to maximise profits for its share holders.

I'm guessing that as this is so soon the offices involved are well aware?POSTMAN wrote:

Lends itself admirably to the lie that it will predominantly be a full time ratio. We've known for years that its bullsh1t and the usual mouthpiece still maintains that we are heading for a 75/25 FT/PT ratio when the modernisation is complete. It beats me why people actually pay any heed to what is obviously union propaganda being peddled as "truth and fact".

There's a different class of employee now. They are more likely to take on more work, work without pay, swap and change at a moments notice, come in early, rush round, not use the equipment designated for the duty, still use their own cars to cut corners and are probably not union members, probably part time and couldn't care less about unity. Who can blame them when the union in the workplace is all but dead despite the usual propaganda.mojothefishmo wrote:Here we go again more cuts and job losses ,we must do more etc,if only people would finally see that running and starting early will cause job losses ,it saddens me it really does!!

It's funny, I was thinking exactly that this morning as people were coming in at 5.30 when they don't start until 7. (I was on nights). Many of our staff are completing no matter what, working until 4,5,6pm+.
We had some new starters a few weeks ago, and on their first day they all worked later than I have ever done in 18 years! Delivering in the dark is a norm for many people now and too many are scared to cut off.
The only good thing is, our office is one of those listed in that document and it doesn't look like we are losing any staff. Some offices are getting properly hammered though, I guess it shows the discrepancies in work rate from one office to another cos we know they're not all the same!

I reckon there could be 7,500 jobs lost next year.
