Full time reserve told got to work in another office for

Post by She Raa »

Full time reserve told got to work in another office for 2 weeks starting next week. I know Agenda for growth says we should be more flexible and if our hours don't change we cannot argue

but if the management pick just 1 reserve out of a possible 8 could that be classed as indirect discrimination ? Why him and not her or him?

a good mamnager would at least asked all of the reserves if any of them wanted to work at another office for 2 weeks. maybe its closer and more convenient for the postie. if none of them do then i would say pick on seniority and then the postman can just come in his/her normsl office as normal everyday get a lift to the office snd get a lift back. they will soon get fed up and not bother anymore

I agree. Why should one person be told to go and not another. This must be seen as being singled out surely. What would happen if the reserve refused I wonder?

You could but I think the point being made is why should a certain individual be selected and HAVE to go when others don't.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago...the Dom at our office(who has now been demoted to a line manager) sent me to an office several miles away from my own place of work...told me I would be doing box counter duties (I was on a rehab programme at the time)..when I got to this office there was no box counter work as such...just thousands and thousands of letters and packets which needed to be killed off as regular posties just didn't have the time apparently to do their own dead's.
I think I was there a couple of weeks..mind numbing work and I shall always remember what one postman said to me on my first day there.
Which manager have you upset at your place then...lol.
I was given a little table in front of the callers office on the shop floor (I lost count how many times coffins were shoved into my back)..I actually think my Dom was trying to humiliate me in the hope I might jack the job in...but I stuck at it because after all I was being payed to sit on my jacksie and in a warm and dry building as opposed to working in the rain and cold as it was winter time.
In the end I cleared several York's of dead mail and packets and became that proficient at it the Dom at this office asked me if I wanted to come in at the weekend to do some more!!!!
Erm I politely refused!

If the guy is a reserve then he gets allocated to where he is needed, as long as his contracted hours do not change and the managers provides transport there and back, i can see no issue myself
