Managers' Update

Joint Statement on Growth, Efficiency and Incentives

12 November 2014

Royal Mail and the CWU have agreed the Joint Statement on Growth, Efficiency and Incentives. Please read the statement and ensure you are familiar with the core messages.

Focus on growth
Royal Mail and the CWU will work together to seek opportunities for growth against the backdrop of increased competition. There will be opportunities for you and your teams to be involved in this work.

A number of commitments have been made. These include existing initiatives such as the Sunday opening of enquiry offices and piloting Sunday deliveries within the M25.

We are reviewing our existing work plan to look at new opportunities to better meet our customers’ needs and expand options for growth. As part of this, the Optimised Mail Preparation project will now be fully integrated into the wider pipeline/work plan review.

Efficiency: your role

All offices will undertake a local resourcing and workload review. Depending on the results of each review, it will be decided whether a unit can be managed effectively through weekly resourcing meetings, a unit-led revision, or whether a full scale structural revision is required. All local reviews will be in accordance with existing agreements, including the recently agreed new delivery revision guidelines and new model week guidance.

Where appropriate, a preference exercise may take place to allow you to effectively align resource to workload in each office. This should be carried out in consultation with your CWU representative.

You have the opportunity to extend the preference exercise to whole areas and across functions, which maximise the choices available for our people, and take into account the range of initiatives you may be planning.

If your unit has experienced any slippage with initiatives and where delay may have been attributed to the publication of the Joint Statement, please work with your CWU rep to progress changes.
Incentives

An incentive scheme for 2014-15 has been developed. A lump sum for all CWU-grade employees will be payable in June 2015, subject to profit targets being met. We are committed to introducing further incentive arrangements beyond April 2015.

The MTSF review is now scheduled to take place in May 2015 and be completed in June 2015. Until then, current MTSF terms continue (subject to exceptions set out in the Joint Statement).
Further communications will follow.

If you can, get out before June because after that it will be compulsory redundancy terms and not the very nice VR package currently on offer.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

This is a managers briefing. I posted it so you know what they have been told and lessen the chances of them trying it on.

Its basically the same as we have been told before, more resourcing to workload, more revisions and details about the bonus.

That is the bit that worries me. What exceptions? Which particular employees are not covered by MTSF ?

The exceptions are the buy down issue which is now taxable and the joint statement allows for the business to pay half the tax and one other option. No other part of MTSF has changed.

LOL Weekly resourcing meetings. :left: :left: :left:

You can tell this is a `joint` statement as the managers don't give a s**t about them and the CWU top table wankpots actually believe that they exists.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.
