Weekly Face to Face interview whilst on sick leave!!

I understand I need to maintain contact with Royal Mail but my manager wants me to attend a weekly face to face interview whilst on sick leave.
I have had a meet before and found him very intimidating and manipulative,he also threatened to withdraw sick pay if I did not fully cooperate.

So I really need to know do I have to attend a weekly Face to face ?

however, if you can't get in due to your sickess, tell him, and if he insist's invite him to your house, or somewhere close to your home that you can get to, Cafe etc.

they do think that it will be easier for them to get you back to work if asking you face to face, Stick to your guns, if you are sick you are sick. Simples :)

Always have a union rep or someone to take notes as mood of meeting changes dramatically bully can be done tactfully pen and paper stops harassment of members. Most members in my unit phone in face to face meeting are for week one,28 days,3 months if still off and before you go on to half pay to let you know that fact. These meetings are for information gathering and communicating company position and seriousness of illness and to help those able back to work.

On the point of manager's comment on withdrawing sick pay if not cooperating .
Take the time to study Royal Mails sick pay and conditions policy in respect to RM having the right to withdraw sick pay if certain conditions are breached it is interesting reading.

Of course you don't have to. Read the attendance agreement, it clearly states "an agreed contact strategy" and not "do what your manager says". Contact can be face to face, phone, email etc and MUST be agreed by both parties. The minute you start bowing to your manager and going into these face to face meetings then you can bet your life they'll say as you are now here you can do this and that cant you. Its called harassment and a good rep or area rep would stop it immediately.
