Dear Colleagues

John Moynihan - Former NEC Member, CWU Trustee and Vice-Chair of the Engineering Constituency.

We have today been made aware of the sad passing of John Moynihan. We convey our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

John held many positions during his time in the CWU (and previous unions the POEU and NCU) including Branch Assistant Secretary Organising 1975-1983, Assistant Branch Secretary (London North Central Internal Branch) 1984-1990, member of the NEC 1991-2005 and Vice-Chair of the Engineering Constituency. John was also a National Union Trustee from 1993 until he left in 2005.

John joined the Post Office Engineering Union (POEU) in 1964 at 16, soon after commencing his service with the General Post Office (later BT). As well as the posts listed above John held many other positions within the union at both Branch and District Level. John's service to the union was recognised in 2006 when he received the National Gold Badge Award.

We will advise Branches of the funeral arrangements once we are in receipt of them.
