HELP - Transfer from 1 DO to another DO on Temporary basis?

Post by sledge4882 »

I was told by my manager last week that I would have to go to another DO to cover over there for only 1 week as agreed, today my boss came over to the DO where im at now to tell me I have to stay for another week, I said I wanted to go back to my own depot, he said no I need you here, I said will my duty still be there for me where Ive finished up here, he said in a jokily way "yes don't worry you wont be on that forever anyway", that suddenly raised my suspicions..is he trying to force me out of my own DO where ive worked there for over 3 years to pave the way for someone to take MY duty? (where im very much happy about working there) or by past experience does anybody know it is just temporary basis like he said? If the worst came to the worst and he told me I would have to stay at that DO would the CWU be able to do anything about it to back me up? Surely they cant transfer me without my permission?

also do you go to your do first in the morning before going to the other do?

and lastly does your contract of employment mention working in more than one do

did you sign for your duty in a resign? - what do you mean?

also do you go to your do first in the morning before going to the other do? - I go to the temporary office from start to finish

and lastly does your contract of employment mention working in more than one do - it saids that "you may be required to work at other DO offices" but doesn't mention whether it would be permanent or temporary

Ok how did you get the duty which is yours? Was it in a resign during your office revision or was it a vacancy and your were the most senior person who wanted it?

For the last two parts you need to examine your contract pretty closely just I case it says any more than what you have just mentioned above, Normally if you are working in another do, you turn up at your office for your start time, then travel to the other do in your work time, then travel back to your do to finish at your do for your finish time, also you can insist on being driven there or being given a van to drive yourself, you do not need to use your own vehicle. If you start insisting on this you will find they will probably not want to send you anymore

I was given the duty because the guy retired but I've been on there nearly 4 years now and I believe they just wanted me to go to this DO because I live closer to this DO than the one im permanently at because they are short of staff..
